Oscar Night is one of my favorite holidays, and I look forward to the build up in a way that most Midwesterners look forward to the Indy 500. My wife and I make it a goal to see all the Best Picture nominees, though it rarely happens. We have only seen Brokeback Mountain and Crash so far.

1/30/6 Weight Loss Watcher Explication

Prologue
I'm back. I'm going to try to get 3 solid days on the treadmill this week. I want to focus on making it a regular part of the routine, which obviously hasn't happened yet.

Everything was really convenient in this episode. The nature of the show requires some sort of greater power to guide action, but that greater power was working overtime here. Still enjoyable though.

Prologue
Well, I didn't gain weight. My workout schedule wasn't exactly aggressive this week.

In Seinfeldian fashion, Scrubs created an entire episode of film reference. What a brilliant episode!

Prologue
Success! Maybe it's the result of hard work. Maybe it's the result of a brand new scale that senses my need to see (better) results. If the latter were the case, I appreciate your sensitivity, scale.

Sorry to acknowledge that I watch this show, but it's great for turning off the brain. I wonder if soaps have always been this ridiculous or if they evolved into this lowly state.

It's being haled as the return of the R rated comedy. God bless Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, et al.

The career of Sir Anthony Hopkins flashed in front of me as I braved the treadmill. That's a pretty long "flash," considering he has made over 100 films. I realized the first time I ever saw this incredible actor, he was John Merrick's doctor in The Elephant Man.

Was it my exhaustion, or did Gwyneth continually refer to him as Antony?

Prologue
Let's say this one's just for those keeping score at home, since I have not lost weight yet (sorry to spoil the surprise). Origin documentation, I guess.

And let's just call the picture motivation (what a huge understatement).

1/11/6 Weight Loss Watcher Explication

Prologue
A late night run. Some find it strange that I run (euphemism for walk - I promise that's the last time I use that joke) before I go to sleep, but sometimes it's the only option.

You can't go wrong with actors like Malkovich, Landau, Turturro, Norton, and Damon, and character names like KGB, Worm, and Grama! The intensity of the movie made the workout easy. And what a great ending!

Prologue
2nd verse, same as the first. Almost no difference in today's workout. If anything, it was a little tougher.

As I ran (euphemism for walk), I tried to think of whom was "unequivocally the worst date of my life," like George did in the episode. Maybe that's why today's workout seemed so torturous.

1/9/6 Weight Loss Watcher Explication

Prologue
Wow, I actually feel motivated. I removed the clothes hanging from the treadmill and went for a run! Please note that run is a euphemism for walk.

Just as I turned on the TV, I heard Ron Burgundy discussing a new fad called jogging. That has to mean something, doesn't it?

Weight Loss Watcher Information

New year, right? I spent the previous year talking about getting into shape. That hasn't helped. For the second time ever (first = second semester, college) I weigh an even 2 bills. So now I'm blogging about it - maybe that will work off more calories.

My goal is to use this platform to keep track of my activity and weight loss. This extra dose of accountability just might be what it takes to remove the excess weight surrounding the area known formerly as my stomach. For those of you keeping score at home, my goal is 170. I can't remember the last time I saw that number!

Enjoy the ride. Go to the main Weight Watcher page to see my most recent post.
